Today’s Scripture
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
— 1 PETER 5:7 (NIV)
Why This Changes Everything
1️⃣ The Invitation (“Cast all”)
- Not some, not most — every single care
- The Greek means “to hurl” — like throwing a heavy backpack off a cliff
2️⃣ The Reason (“because he cares”)
- Not just can help but wants to help
- Your pain moves His heart
3️⃣ The Promise (Implied in the command)
- He won’t let you drown
- He’ll replace anxiety with shalom (John 14:27)
How to Actually Do This
- Name it aloud: “Jesus, I’m giving You my fear about ______”
- Visualize the exchange: Imagine placing each worry in His pierced hands
- Resist reclaiming it: When anxiety returns, say “That’s God’s problem now”
Prayer of Release
Tender Shepherd,
I’ve carried burdens You never asked me to bear.
- Pry my fingers open — I release:
💼 My financial stresses
🏥 My health concerns
💔 My relationship wounds - Anchor me in truth:
🔗 You’re for me (Romans 8:31)
🔗 You’re with me (Matthew 28:20)
🔗 You’ve already won (John 16:33)
Amen.
🔥 Freedom Challenge:
- Text someone: “What’s one care I can help you ‘cast’ to God today?”
- Create a “Worry Altar” — Write anxieties on paper, then literally burn/shred them as worship
🕊️ “Do not be anxious about anything… present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)
