Today’s Scripture

“I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
— LUKE 18:14 (NIV)

Two Men, Two Approaches, Two Outcomes

The Pharisee (Pride):
❌ Trusted his resume (fasting, tithing)
❌ Compared himself to others
❌ Left unchanged

The Tax Collector (Humility):
✅ Owned his brokenness (“have mercy on me”)
✅ Looked only to God
✅ Went home justified

Why This Matters for You Today

  1. Your spiritual bank account is empty → Grace deposits everything (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  2. Your weakness qualifies you → “Power is perfected in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
  3. Your humility invites others → The best evangelism is a changed life

Prayer of Surrender

Merciful Father,
I confess I’ve tried to impress You with:
📊 My spiritual performance
🏆 My moral résumé
🎭 My “together” façade

  • Shatter my self-righteousness
  • Anchor me in grace alone
  • Let my brokenness point others to Your wholeness

May my life today:
🙇‍♂️ Demonstrate desperate dependence
💞 Attract fellow strugglers
✝️ Magnify Christ’s finished work

Amen.

🔥 Humility Challenge:

  1. Confess one area where you’ve relied on self-effort → Write “JUSTIFIED BY CHRIST” over it
  2. Encourage someone“God’s grace is enough for both of us”

💎 “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6)
