“Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.’”
— Luke 9:23–24 (NIV)

Following Jesus isn’t a part-time commitment — it’s a daily surrender. True discipleship calls us to set aside our own desires and comforts so we can walk the path He walked. That means carrying our cross every day — not just when it’s easy, convenient, or comfortable.
Sacrifice is not natural to the flesh. That’s why we need the Spirit’s strength to put Jesus first in every area of life — our time, our priorities, our responses, and our choices.
Today, reflect on this:
- What “cross” is God asking you to carry today?
- In what areas of your life are you being called to surrender control?
- Are you willing to lose your life for the sake of gaining His?
🙏 Prayer for Today
God, I confess it’s not easy to deny myself or surrender my comfort. But I know that following You is worth the cost. Help me to become a more sacrificial person, willing to carry my cross just as Jesus carried His. Strengthen me in times of distress, and remind me that true life is found not in holding on, but in giving everything to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
